IEOM UJ Student Chapter Launch and STITCH Co-operative Initiative
The IEOM UJ Student chapter got the ball rolling when it launched its society during a workshop with the STITCH Cooperative in effort to contribute to community development in the Soweto area. This initiative is aimed at supporting businesses through recommendations made from research endeavors by members of the IEOM UJ Student society. The mood was exciting and cooperative members who took part in the workshop saw the opportunity offered by the society as one in a lifetime as they will be able to improve their processes as well as deliver higher quality goods and services.
The workshop ended with a commitment made by the society to assist the cooperative through its involvement in their businesses. The outcome of this involvement is the improvement of the organisation's bottom lines and research papers to be presented at various conferences as well as published in international journals. The next workshop will be introducing research to undergraduate students and providing tips on how to make research less stressful.
